Ukrainian embroidered rushnyk is a handmade miracle and art masterpiece that you could admire endlessly feeling energy of thoughts and ideas of an artis whom it was created. Many books were written, and a lot of historical researches were provided considering history of Ukrainian rushnuk. After all, staring at a pattern of a Ukrainian towel that seems to tell us something, we are always surprised by perfect and precise combination of colors. Ukrainian rushnyks narrate us about thoughts and feelings, and ideas, and cherished dreams, and even a history of a whole generation of a family. Nowadays in a technology world we could not always manage to embroider a beautiful towel from the first try even with existing ornaments, schemes, computers. It happens to fail in choosing proper thread colors or a thread brakes and crosses in a particular ornament are missed. And a long time ago rushnyks (towels) were created for days, months, stitch by stitch – that was how masterpieces were born.

Ukrainian rushnyk used to take a huge part in rituals. Any wedding could do without a lot of towels. As for example welcoming of dear guests with bread, salt and always a towel. Even for a funeral ceremony there should be a towel to see a person off to the last journey. Rushnyk was a part of everyday life. Any Ukrainian hut was decorated with rushnyks on tables and walls.
